Aloha! Welcome to our 2018 CYIA registration page. We are so thankful you have chosen to serve as a summer missionary this summer. The journey you are about to embark upon will be life changing in so many ways! On this page you will see some basic information about our summer missionary training camp as well as important links to help you in the application process.
Please know up front, this is going to take some time. This isn't something you can knock out in 5 minutes unfortunately. We take our summer missionary application process seriously because we want to ensure that each student who participates is a mature Christian student who is fully aware of the high expectations that will be expected of them.
Before you jump into the online application PLEASE click on the "Pre-Application Checklist" first. This will download a PDF file which will help you prepare for the online application.

If at any time during this process you have questions, please feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to answer them as soon as possible.
Blessings and aloha!

What is CYIA?
Christian Youth in Action® (CYIA™) is a leadership development program designed to train teenagers in effective and engaging ways to teach children about God. Along the way, you will develop lasting relationships with other Christian teens from across the state, deepen your walk with Christ and uncover leadership skills you may not have even been aware of. CYIA students are also a crucial part of our vision for Hawaii that every child on every island can hear the Gospel by the age of twelve.
How Long is CYIA?
CYIA consists of three main parts:

-
A two week training & leadership development camp (June 2-16). This year's camp will be on Molokai, so Saturday, June 2nd and Saturday June 16th are designated travel days.
-
At least two weeks of leading 5-Day Clubs. See the description below for more details.
-
Assist with our week long children's camp July 22-26 at Sunset Beach Christian Church on the North Shore of Oahu. See the description below for more details.
Where is CYIA held?
The two weeks of training camp will be held at Molokai Baptist Church on the island of Molokai this summer. Sleeping accommodations will range from bunk beds to tents depending upon the number of students who sign up this year. But the good news is everyone will have indoor showers!
What will I be required to do?
5-Day Clubs
You will learn to lead various portions of our summer 5 Day Club program. The key components include presenting the Gospel clearly on a child’s level, counseling a child for salvation and leading a dynamic club ministry for children. Other components of this club include teaching a real-life missionary story, teaching Bible verses, leading songs, games and a fun review game.

You will never teach alone. You will always teach with a team of other trained CYIA students. These clubs take place out in the community with predominantly unsaved kids who don’t regularly attend church.
Day Camps
Occasionally the CYIA students also teach extended "day camps" at select locations around Oahu. These day camps usually last about 4 hours each day. The extra time with the children allows us to develop deeper relationships as we share the Bible lessons, sing songs, play games, make crafts and have snacks together.
Camp Good News, July 22-26 @ SBCC
Camp Good News is also another opportunity you will have to stretch your leadership skills. CGN is an overnight camp for children ages 8-12 years old. We will have up to 50 upper elementary age children coming together for a four night, five day camp focused on growing in Christ. Of course we have a LOT of fun with the children as well.
If you have a heart for ministry and want to team up with other young people to reach the children of Hawaii, then CYIA™ is for you!

* Your $100 deposit is refundable up to Monday, May 7th. After that, all deposits become non-refundable.

** Airfare on Makani Kai is based on first come first served availability. We will do our best to book your flight to Molokai soon after you pay your $100 deposit. The closer we get to June, the less seats will be available for our departure date of Saturday, June 2nd. If there are no seats available, you will be given a credit of $100 towards your camp balance and be asked book your flight on your own through one of the other airlines that fly to Molokai.
