What is a Good News Club?

A Good News Club is a one hour, one day a week, Bible club for children ages 5-12.   Churches "adopt" a school and volunteers from the church take the Word of God to the children.  These volunteers undergo background checks and are trained by Child Evangelism Fellowship to conduct a Good News Club that is exciting and Bible based for the children.

The purpose of Good News Club is to evangelize boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ and disciple them in the Word of God.  Good News Clubs are interdenominational.  As a result, no denominational doctrines are taught in our GNC's.  While volunteer teachers teach basic Christian doctrine and beliefs, children of any religious background are welcome to attend.

Children may only attend our after school Bible clubs with parents permission.  The children participate voluntarilly and we are not allowed to recruit students to come during the school day.

Why Do We Focus On Children?

In 2004, the Barna Group conducted a survey of 992 born again Christians nationwide.  The results revealed that people are most likely to accept Christ as their Savior before the age of eighteen (64% according to the survey).  Nearly half of the people (43%) stated that they began a relationship with Jesus Christ before the age of thirteen.  In the report, George Barna also indicated that most people, including children, do not come to a relationship with Christ through the church anymore.

How can I find out more about

starting a GNC in my area?

Starting a GNC takes a bit of time, energy and commitment; but it is one of the most effective ways for churches to minister to the children in their community.
